Hi. Most of my story is in my journal but i will give you a basic run through. I'll cut this due to length.
I have had thought I had problems with my thyroid when I was in high school. I went to my family doctor at the time and he did my blood work and it came back as borderline normal. I was in the normal range but just barely so I didn't pursue the issue.
Then, I was about to get married several years latter so I went to get a pap so i could get on bc(birth control). Then he discovered my neck was larger on one side than the other. Turns out I had three goiters in my thyroid. One was big enough to make my neck look bigger on one side. So then, I was put on synthroid.
A few years went by and it didn't grow but it didn't shrink either. My endocrinologist, did ultrasounds of my thyroid glad every once in awhile to get measurments of the goiters. Well, The last time that doctor did it she discovered it had grown again. So they did another biopsy of it and even though it came out as not cancerous, I decided I wanted it removed. So she referred me to a surgen and I had almost all of it removed. Turns out the big one was blocking part of my throat.(how scary is that?)
For several years my weight has stayed pretty constant but this year it has been anything but constant. This year I have gained 30lbs. Which is not good at all. I found out about a month ago and have been trying to loose weight since then.
I have lost about 8lbs since then but it is a daily battle. I need to get healthy again. I was over weight to begin with but now i need to loose a lot more. I'm doing baby steps. I made a goal to loose 12 lbs by the end of the year. I only have 4 more to go to reach that goal. Then, I will make another goal.
Ok. Now I have a question for you guys. I forget to take my thyroid pills every once in awhile. What helps you remember to take your pills? Any suggestions?
